What I love about working with Malou in this process is the attention to detail, the patience, and the way she really makes it about me. Even though our sessions were virtual she has an amazing ability to relate and notice my feelings. Malou seems to feel instinctively when to ask questions, when to maybe give a little push (only very gentle!) or when to just put things aside and allow a bit more time to decide. She really makes the process not about just getting rid of clutter, or cleaning up, but about appreciating what you own, and really enjoying it. Her genuine enthusiasm about my progress and her ability to adjust to the time I need makes it so that it is not just the few hours you spend in the session, but it is something that sticks and grows. Even though I first said I would not bother folding my socks and underwear the KonMari way, by now I have already sent Malou pictures of my new socks arrangement (yes, folded the KonMari Method®) . My boyfriend mentioned that even our toilet feels as a wholehearted space now.

Malou has shown me what the KonMari Method® entails and how it is so much more than “cleaning up your closet”. She is warm but honest and can help you to uncover your patterns, but more important to help you see who you are and what is important for you and what it feels like to stay close to yourself. With insights varying from folding to interior ideas and from emotional decisions to let go of (material) things and ideas, Malou has been a fantastic coach on various levels. And although I have still two sessions left, I am already so grateful for the insights and the help Malou gave me. It inspires me, and with me, my husband too: win! Every morning I open up my closet, it makes me proud and smile! I can’t wait to continue the sessions, and feeling cleaned up in head, mind, and house which gives good energy for everything you do, or want to do or achieve.
DUKE // THE NETHERLANDS
Five years ago I moved into our beautiful new-build home (in the Netherlands) with my boyfriend. All our belongings from our apartment we lived in together came with us and we had put them everywhere and nowhere in our new house. Slowly they all found a place in our house. But all this time something was nagging at me. Something was wrong in terms of design and order. Questions like: where do I put my gift wrapping paper? And why does my kitchen remain messy, even though I keep tidying it up? It kept me busy.To this day, I am still grateful that my dear sister Malou is a certified Marie Kondo consultant, because she made me happy with appreciating my things and my home again. From clothing to books, from pots to postcards… everything now has a permanent and logical place in my house. I got finally rid of that restless feeling! What I really appreciated is that Malou always gave me multiple options for how I could clean up or put things away. She gave me time to think about her ideas and asked the right questions. I thought it was amazing that she knew my house well, remotely via Zoom, and had all kinds of solutions. It quickly became clear to me that I was dealing with an expert.
Does it make me happy, doest is spark joy? That’s the question I learned to ask myself. And I still do that regularly. After the sessions with Malou, my house feels ‘right’ and so does my life. I would never thought that these sessions could really contribute to my greater well-being.ESMÉE // THE NETHERLANDS
